WHAT IS A PhD ?

It is a post-graduate degree (Ministerial act passed 26 May 2016)

What is it to be a PhD student or Doctorate ?

As a post-graduate student, you will work towards your PhD, the highest level of academic degree, whilst carrying out your first professional research experience.

THE PhD STUDENT AND THE DOCTORAL SCHOOL

The main goal of the school is to ‘organise the training of post-graduate students, and to assist their integration into the world of work’.

The Doctoral School :

- Provides a range of complementary training.

- Ensures compliance with the rules set out in the PhD Charter from the University of Strasbourg for post-graduate students, their supervisors, and the directors of the research departments. This is in order to guarantee a high quality research, and the smooth-running of the PhD.

- Sets the rules for post-graduate recruitment.

The PhD Student :

- Receives training in research and through research.

- Is prepared to continue his/her professional career at the end of the PhD, through additional teaching

- Agrees to comply with all the rules and principles of the Doctorate Charter from the University of Strasbourg.

- Agrees to comply with the rules set by the Earth and Environmental Sciences Doctoral School
